With that in mind, let’s take a look at a day in the life of one of our expert translation providers.
Last week was quite literally my toughest week yet as a transcriptionist. This had nothing to do with working a little overtime, or too many hours, or the heatwave. No, it had been the toughest job that I ever had.

I was transcribing interviews relating to a national tragedy. A disaster that had shocked the nation and myself and which I had followed in the news. And suddenly, and totally unexpectedly, I found myself right in the middle of it. What I was transcribing were interviews of people that had been right there. That had witnessed it, that had been part of it, that had experienced trauma from it and whose lives had totally changed as a result of it. And they were right there with me over my headphones.
Translation Services For Books
If you listen to audio books under headphones you may know what I mean when I say that anything you listen to under headphones somehow feels a lot closer and more intimate. This was no different and in fact it was moving me emotionally. Yes, indeed, I cried a few times. Things that were witnessed and discussed were both tragic, sad, but also uplifting and moving at times. Details sometimes were really shocking and at other times, they were so beautiful. There was also a lot of beauty in this tragedy, which is somewhat comforting in all of this.

So how did that affect me, the distant typist? Well, quite a lot. Because I felt that quite unexpectedly I became part of this national tragedy. The transcriptions were for a very specific purpose and it felt like I was part of a bigger story to tell. I felt I did my little thing here that might help with something bigger. I was helping to maybe bring about change from this tragedy. That felt incredible. Such valid work that was done, and I was also part of that. What a wonderful thing to be able to do. I felt so honoured to do my little bit. And may those souls rest in peace.
When you are a transcriptionist, no week is really like any other. This one proved to be like no other one had been before. And that’s why I love my job. And this week it was just that little bit more than just a job, that little bit more emotional, moving, sad and beautiful. Quite literally like no other week ever before.
