Transcript Extra Charges Explained Part One

The cost of transcription services can vary quite a bit depending on what type of transcription service you require and the industry you are in. To help clear up any confusion, we thought we’d outline our transcription extras, so that you know exactly what want and what you are paying for. Read on to find out more about our Transcript Extras.

Time coded Transcription or Transcripts with Visual Descriptions

If you need us to add time codes, time stamps or visual descriptions to your transcripts, we can do so at specified intervals or specific point in your transcript. Time codes are often needed for video transcripts or research transcripts to help clients find the information they need quickly and without fuss.

Verbatim Transcription

Our verbatim transcription is a transcription style where every utterance is included on your transcript, this includes fillers (such as “um” and “erm”), as well as false starts, repetitions etc. Verbatim transcription is often used in legal transcripts that are intended for court or litigation, as they are less open to interpretation than edited or intelligent verbatim transcription styles.

Discourse Analysis Transcription

Our discourse Analysis is similar to verbatim transcription, in that it includes every sound uttered. However, discourse analysis style transcripts take things to the next level by including the lengths of pauses, tone of voice, pitch of voice and any words that are emphasised. Discourse analysis transcription is often used for research and is a highly descriptive form of transcription.

Medical Transcription

Our medical transcription requires a high level of knowledge and experience from the transcriptionist. Our medical transcripts require a high level of accuracy often meaning that the transcriptionist will have to regularly research, check and cross reference as they go along. It is also recommended that medical transcripts make use of our second proofreading services and should always be fully proofread by the client.

Technical Transcription and Transcripts that need Extensive Research

Sound files or video files that contain highly technical information or need extensive research will always be transcribed by typists who have the relevant experience and knowledge. However, audio or video files that contain a large amount of specialist information will still often need extensive research and time spent on them in order to ensure accuracy.
