Recording your Audio or Video for Transcription
The first step in the transcription process is to record the audio or video session that you would like to have transcribed. The main points to remember here are to make the recording as clear as possible and also to keep the dialogue concise and to the point, in order to ensure that the end transcript contains all the information you need, without the waffle.
Finding the Right Transcription Company
The second step in the transcription process is finding a transcription company that fulfils your needs, in terms of transcription styles offered, transcript turnaround times, transcription experience in your industry and transcription costs. We recommend at the very least to find a transcription company that is registered with the Data Protection Act to ensure your confidential information is handled with care.
Submitting Your File for Transcription
Once you have found a transcription company to transcribe your audio or video file, the next thing you need to do is upload them for transcription. We recommend that you include as much information as possible at this stage to help keep your transcripts both accurate and to your specifications. Information that is useful to the transcriptionist includes, any technical or medical terms, correct spellings for names and company names, useful websites for doing any research, as well as any additional information that has relevance to the file being transcribed. Once a deadline has been agreed and your file has been uploaded, all you have to do is sit back and wait for the magic to happen!
Completed Transcript
Once complete, your transcript will be sent via email, secure web folder or downloadable link (depending on what works best for you), along with an invoice. At this stage you can evaluate your completed transcript. If required, many companies will carry out any amendments needed within 48 hours free of charge, after which time your audio files will be deleted from the system.
