Transcription Jobs

Being a good transcriptionist is about much more than being a fast typist or being able to copy type a document. Transcription or audio/video typing is about being able to produce a transcript from listening to the spoken word – sound simple? Don’t be fooled!

Transcription Jobs and Skills Required

Transcription Work and Research

Audio files that come in for transcription can cover a variety of subjects, sectors and specialties; including medical, legal, political, research and technology (to name a few). This means that each audio typist must have the knowledge, intelligence and imitative to research and cross reference information that is not clear, to ensure an accurate transcript is produced. This includes but is not limited to company names, medical terms, technical terms, brand names, place names and speakers names.

Transcription Work and Being Reliable

The audio and video transcriptionists who work for Transcription City are reliable and hard working and they always adhere to deadlines (from a couple of hours to a week or more). One of the most important aspects of working as a transcriptionist is reliability, once a transcriptionist has taken on a job, it is imperative that it is completed on time and to a high standard. Our clients rely on us to meet tough deadlines, so if you don’t take deadlines seriously, then please do not apply.

Transcription Jobs and Low Quality Audio

Not all recordings are as clear as they could be  and this can be down to a number of factors (such as background noise, strong foreign accents or speakers talking over each other). A sign of a great transcriptionist is someone who can see a badly recorded audio or video file through to the end, even if it is tough going at times.
